Loy Krathong in November

Still uploading pictures… today we put online the photos took during the last Loy Krathong festival.

You can see them here

Every year we all go to the lac by the beach of Karon to release the Krathongs made during the day.

We chose Karon because it is much more intimate than Patong and it is easier to send the Krathongs away and get good luck for the year to come.

Of course you are all invited to join us for this beautiful event.

Looking forward to attending this event with you in 2009!

Songkran 2009 in Patong Beach

We just finished uploading the photos we took during Songkran 2009. If you were on the island last April 13-15th, we hope you will have fun watching them and remembering these 3 days of madness which was really heavy this year.

The photos are here on Flickr

Most of them have been taken in the Paradise Complex (Gay area) directly on the street and from Sundowners terrace and along Rat-U-Thit road (Patong main street). They were the “safe”, “quiet” and “dry” areas of Patong (well…) and it was impossible to enter Bangla Road without a waterproof camera.

For the ones who were not here, Songkran is the Thai new year. It is celebrated every year from April 13th to April 15th. Funny thing is that in Thailand the New year is officially on January 1st (we are currently in 2552) for conveniency toward the rest of the world but still celebrated in April.

These days are non-working and everyone go out on the street to fight with water-guns and talcum powder. Not only because this is the hottest time of the year, also because it is supposed to wash away the bad things that happened over the past year. It is a kind of blessing…. and it’s fun. Almost everyone take part in the celebrations, many people come from the country side of Phuket to join the tourists and celebrate: adults, children even policemen…
